I am teaching this little guy how to correctly say hello to a dog. After asking your parent and the owner if it is OK to pet the dog, stand still with your hand at your side, fingers folded like a fist, and let the dog sniff you first (that is their way of saying "Hello"). Then if the dog remains calm, you may pet the dog on the side of the neck. NEVER pet a dog on the top of the head.

Dog Bite Prevention is for adults too. It is very important for parents and dog owners to know the signs that a dog is uncomfortable and may bite. Go to Doggone Safe's web site to learn more about dog body language to be your dog's advocate and to help those who wish to interact with your dog do so safely.
